PRINCIPIA WEAVE SERIES
It's bold, it's brash, it's stupendously light, it's the new kid on the block. Well actually not as new as it looks. The Principia weave series has been a long time coming. For good reason. Carbon fiber is a delicate and time consuming material to work with. It has extreme performance potential, but like many other things it can be used to create horrible, and sometimes dangerous, results. Independent testing shows the Principia weave series have less than 1% cavities and excellent (65 - 70%) fiber density. Our uni-directional lay-up has been perfected through testing, testing and you guessed it - more testing. We are proud to say that our confidence in the new Principia weave series is equalled only by the confidence instilled from the Principia ppa series. It may have taken a while, but a Principia weave frame only becomes a real Principia, when every detail is world class.
DESIGN 2 SIZE (D2S)
Now why didn’t anyone think of this before? Traditionally, bicycle frames have been designed in a medium size and then the exact same tube specifications have been used for all frame sizes. But, different sized riders place different demands on the frame, so in effect smaller riders have been riding frames that are too heavy and bigger riders have had frames that weren’t stiff enough. The Principia D2S system varies the seat, top and down tube diameters according to frame size, so everyone gets the best possible ride. It’s a natural evolution of the heralded Principia SX with differential slope geometry introduced in 2003.

SX GEOMETRY
SX Differential Slope Geometry varies the amount of slope according to frame size. The smaller frames get a more dramatic slope, while the larger frames feature only a moderate slope. In a sense, the work on the SX slope technology began 4 years ago, when Principia introduced the S6 (6 centimeter slope) technology. What we found was that while the S6 slope was perfect for the smaller sizes, it often produced an unaesthetic and structurally unsound seat post length, on the larger frame sizes. The SX technology is a new, in-dividual approach to sloping frame geometries, ensuring a proper fit for all frame sizes.
*Measuring Conventions
Frames with sloping top tubes have top tube lengths that are measured horizontally, from the head tube to an imaginary, extended seat tube. The amount of slope is measured as the vertical deviation from head tube to seat tube. Standover height is measured at top tube midpoint.

3D FRONT END
The completely new 3D front end consists of 3 pieces. The new 3D monocoque carbon fork featuring the signature Principia tapered steerer. 1-1/4' at the bottom tapering to 1-1/8' at the top. The steering precision is Available in 2 versions, a high quality 415 gram version, and a high modulus fiber version, weighing just 365 grams. The light weight version is reserved exclusively for our Revolution level frame sets. Both versions feature carbon fiber dropouts
The 3D head tube is a lightweight masterpiece. Evoking the legendary Principia Ellipse Project shape, the 3D head tube tapers elegantly from the wide, secure platform for the fork to the elegant, smaller top dimension.
And to tie it all together, a 55 gram headset, with triple water seals, angular contact, sealed bearings, precision aluminum crown race and a most refined 20 mm top cone - polished and a perfect fit for the 3D head tube.
And, we dare you to find any other solution as elegant as the 3D system.

UNCOMPROMISED PERFORMANCE SHIFTING (UPS)
Replaceable derailleur hangers are a gift from the heavens. Especially if you travel with your bike. Going to races, flying to the canary islands in the spring - every time you put your bike on a car rack, in the trunk, in a box or worst of all - check it onto an airline, your derailleur hanger is in severe danger. There are only so many times a hanger can be bent back into shape, very few in fact, so many years ago Principia introduced replaceable hangers on all frames. It is the least we could do for our customers.
But, to be honest the replaceable hanger also introduced some problems. Some were too weak, and would bend too easily, ruining shifting performance. The main problem though, was that the hanger was not stiff enough for precise shifting. So some other bike manufacturers have resorted to using non-replaceable hangers. This is definitely not in the best interest of the riders.
So for 2006 Principia has introduced the new UPS replaceable hanger system. The idea is simple - instead of replacing only a small and fragile hanger part, the entire dropout is bolted to the frame. Very securely by the way. The UPS solution is the best of both worlds - it has the stiffness of a one-piece dropout and hanger, but can still be replaced after African Airlines threw several 35 kg. suitcases on top of your formula one level, precision sports instrument.

Principia makes framesets only, but obviously no Principia frame will ever be used without being built up as a complete bike first.
